Spicy Baked Tofu

Baked Spicy Tofu in a blue bowl

Tofu is a great low sodium meat alternative protein packed with potential. While I do enjoy my Kung Pao Tofu recipe, this simple baked version packs tons of flavor and is perfect over a bed of rice and steamed veggies. #MakeItYours with any seasoning blend, if you don’t want a spicy option.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 400F degrees. After draining tofu, wrap in a clean kitchen towel and place on a plate. Place a heavy cutting board or skillet on top of the wrapped tofu for at least 10 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, combine soy sauce and oils. Whisk together.
  3. Once tofu is pressed, but into equal sized pieces, about 1.5 inches.
  4. Toss in sauce. Add cornstarch and carefully toss to coat.
  5. On a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, place the tofu. Shake spicy seasoning onto tofu. Flip and repeat.
  6. Place tofu on the middle rack in the oven and roast for 20 to 25 minutes, flipping at least once.
  7. Plate tofu in a bowl and drizzle a bit more sesame oil if you’d like.

Salt Swaps:

  • Low sodium soy sauce adds a small touch of salt.
  • A no salt seasoning blend packs flavor without all the extra salt.
